A short walk down the high street and we were relieved to find the Coach House B & B to relax after a very long but exhilarating day’s walking on the Pembrokeshire coastal path. This 7 night self-guided walking holiday follows the wild and rugged coastline along the westerly peninsula of Wales. It has some spectacular scenery so don’t forget the camera! It is situated between Broad Haven and Newgale. We returned to Newgale carpark which was my finishing point two weeks ago. The nearby village of Roch is only a quick walk away and has a village shop and friendly pub which serves evening meals and brews its own beer. The path was bordered by bright yellow gorse, pom poms of pink thrift and pale yellow clumps of cowslips on the grassy banks. Further into the walk we reach the two mile stretch across Newgale Beach, the tide was out and we made our way down to the sands, an easier and more satisfying way to walk the two mile stretch rather than along the busy road. The only public transport along this part of the Pembrokeshire coastline from St Davids to Marloes, is the No 400 Puffin Shuttle bus service that runs three buses every day in summer (May-September) and three buses a day on Thursday and Saturday only in winter (Oct – May). Newgale to Druidston Haven. This purpose-built holiday chalet is located on the outskirts of the seaside village of Nolton Haven, near Haverfordwest in the Pembrokeshire National Park and can sleep four people in two bedrooms. The Sands Cafe appeared to be the trendiest place in town, the other main option being the Duke of Edinburgh pub. Why Paul chose Nolton We loved the beaches in the area - particularly Newgale, but Nolton Haven and Solva also very special. Nolton Stables is located in the small, coastal village of Nolton, a short distance from Nolton Haven, Druidstone Haven, Newgale, and Broad Haven. We enjoyed eating at The Swan Inn Little Haven, The Sunshine Italian & The Galleon in Broad Haven and The Cambrian in Solva. The water glittered in the evening sunshine to one side of our path, while on the other was pasture and freshly ploughed flields waiting to be planted. Two kissing gates, four wicket gates, 9 steps. Nolton Haven has a quiet village setting but with all-year-round outdoor activities. It was an easy walk & Chris picked me up from Nolton Haven carpark. A longer varying walk which covers six bays – all with a ‘Haven’ name. We used the Puffin Shuttle to travel back from St Davids to Broadhaven, where we had left our car. It has a great sea view and is just five minutes walk from Nolton Haven beach. The wind blustered and buffeted us, and even the herd of cows we passed through were lying down, a sign of the sharp wind or perhaps they knew rain was coming. Enjoyed visits to Newgale beach and 2 cafes, Broadhaven beach, Porthgain, Abereiddy, and the Blue Lagoon, Solva, St Davids and Little Haven. The beach is quiet and unspoilt although in the past, like Little Haven, this was an export point for coal and a … Nolton Haven Beach is a lovely inlet and it was quite crowded with people enjoying the nice weather, walking the dog or searching for pebbles. From Druistone beach, the path climbed steeply up some wooden steps to the top of the cliff again. Most of the houses were past the car park and the campsite at the far end of the beach, where we found the Sands Cafe that was to be our lunch stop. This beautiful walk takes in several secret beaches not visible from the road and passes the beach waterfall at Druidstone, as well as old coal mine chimneys and rock formations such as the impressive Rickets Head near Nolton Haven. As a cove it is sheltered from wind and the sea is much calmer than Newgale making it ideal for children to swim, body board or kayak. A great opportunity to explore all St Bride’s Bay has to offer, at low tide you can walk south to the neighbouring Settlands bay and across again to Little Haven, just don’t get caught out on the way back. After seeing the puffins on Skomer island we stayed the night at Broadhaven, where we checked into Sunset B & B, a modern house set up a little up from the sea. Me walking away from Newgale taken by Chris getting nearer . Our bedroom on the first floor was large and cosy with a brass bed, a brown and cream floral scheme and an en suite shower room. The laverbread with cockles may have been off the menu but I really enjoyed my veggie breakfast with leef and cheese cake, topped with a scrambled egg. The house was neat and well-decorated and from our bedroom we could see down to the wide expanse of beach with some pretty houses painted in blue and yellow. The path jinked back from the field onto the road above the hotel and then down into a gully where a stream rushed down to the sea. We arrived at Caserfai bay, a sandy beach which thankfully we could enjoy from above without having to climb right down to it. We passed the rockly promentaries of Dinas Fach and Dinas Fawr with a wild path that you can explore for a detour. Located in the small village of Nolton we are easily accessible from Haverfordwest, and central to the west coast of Pembrokeshire. I ordered an excellent steak with peppercorn sauce and Guy had a fish pie, with chunky pieces of salmon, then we shared a date cake and some award winning ice cream for desert. Nolton Cross Caravan Park is situated 1.5 miles inland of Nolton Haven a small coastal hamlet (once an important small coal port in Pembrokeshire) on the mid St Brides Bay Coast. The little hamlet of Nolton Haven didn’t have much going on, although there was the Mariner’s Arms pub and a park of static caravans set back a little from the beach. We were quite relieved to get to Solva at last, descending from the cliff down a leafy lane with knarled trees making a tunnel, and bluebells and ferns on the bank beside us. It was a long walk past the old lime kilns to the very end of the estuary and back on the other side.
