“Parallels”

Billions of possibilities regarding my evolution

Thousands of seemingly random choices made.

Incalculable problems and moments with more than one solution

Fleeting acts become permanently engraved.

Is whom I call me a matter of chance?

Will my character be marked by love or by hate?

Will my being change due to circumstance?

Rolling the bones or blindly counting on fate?

Random mutation, combining, transcription, translation;

Will my cherished and my maligned qualities change?

Should I be part of this home, city, state, religion & nation?

Where will I settle out in the reaction range?

Is it fatalism or a ghost of a chance?

Wondering if I will find someone to love.

A prisoner of fate, a victim of circumstance?

From whence does the ruling come – Earth, or above?

Is there one constant, a part always the same?

Something I would take from one reality to another?

Who shall I thank, or conversely, who to blame?

Do I owe God, chance, society, freewill, or my mother?
