Another wonderful evening
Happened again last night
Chock-full of positive feelings
This time, too, it felt right.
Intense rhythmic gyration
Intertwined with the beat
Achieving integration
Amongst oppressive heat.
Feeling not with my mind, but my soul
Reaching a new dimension of dance
Starring in a narcissistic role
Up on the platform I seized my chance.
In touch with my other side
Part of myself I was pleased to be at
Quantum leap in my level of pride
Figuratively splintering the bat.
Music filling both ears and heart
Even though I was doing it sober
Above the crowd I made art
Finding myself regretting it’s over.
Tight and conscientious early on
My dancing more like an exercise
Soon the crowd were my observant pawns
Funky energy seen in these eyes.
Unabashedly this cat grooved and jazzed
The other man in white, although stacked
Lacked my inimitable razzmatazz
Paled compared to the man in black.
Again, I knew a primal enjoyment
And raised the roof within my mind
Achieving spiritual fulfillment
By what I have found, and will find.
